The Adelphi Orchestra presents The Young Artist Showcase:Celebration of Prodigies
The Adelphi Orchestra (AO) opens its 61st season with The Young Artist Showcase-Celebration of Prodigies under the baton of conductor Richard Owen. Our featured soloist is cellist Dylan Wu, winner of the 2014 Adelphi Young Artist Competition. He will be performing the Saint-Saëns: Concerto for Cello no 1 in A minor, Op. 33 with the orchestra. Also included on the program is Cimarosa’s Overture to a Secret Marriage and Mozart: Symphony no 41 in C major, K 551 “Jupiter”.
Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, through grant funds administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
Admission is free with a suggested tax-deductible donation of $20.

About the Adelphi Orchestra
The award-winning Adelphi Orchestra is a professional, non-profit orchestra offering symphony, chamber and educational concert programs in Northern NJ and the New York metropolitan area. Formerly called the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra, the AO is currently celebrating its 61st season of presenting concerts with accomplished national and international guest soloists. The orchestra holds an annual young artists’ competition that enables contestants to perform in a prestigious New York City venue and provides the winner with an opportunity to appear as a solo artist with the AO. Over the years, the orchestra has also collaborated with choirs and other area arts organizations in venues that include public schools and libraries, senior centers, and performing institutions.
Contributing to the success of the AO’s history is the leadership of a number of distinguished conductors. Through its high level of artistic excellence, the AO attracts and retains the region’s best freelance musicians. The AO is a member of the League of American Orchestras.
About Dylan Wu
Dylan is a 10 year old who began his cello studies at age three. He is currently a student of Minhye Clara Kim at the Precollege Division of the Juilliard School in Manhattan. He has won first place in various competitions, including the Golden Key Music Competition, American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, and the YWCA of Queens NY Music Competition. He was a semifinalist and award winner at the 8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow, Russia. He has performed as a soloist at venues such as Weill Hall, Steinway Hall, and Morse Hall at Lincoln Center and is a co-principal cellist of the Juilliard Precollege String Ensemble.
