Carla Auld – Flute

Flutist, Carla Auld is a soloist and chamber musician who promotes the performance of new classical  and crossover music by various composers throughout the world. Ms. Auld’s debut CD, “Beauty in America”,features the works of living American composers and premieres two new works by Mark O’Connor and Steve Giammarino for flute and orchestra. The CD is available under the MSR Classics record label and has described as “entirely captivating an impressive”. Jerry Dubins editor of Fanfare magazine called  it “Beguiling…perfect technical command…music made for listening ease and pleasure” She has performed regularly as a soloist in conjunction with the West Side Oratorio Orchestra and several ensembles in the NY Metro Area.
Carla is First Prize winner of the Alexander and Buono International Flute Competition garnering her a performance at Weill Recital Hall in Autumn of 2010. Ms. Auld is a founding member of the ensemble of UpTown Flutes, winners of the Artist International Chamber Music Award, and released three CD’s entitled, A Flute Renaissance, An UpTown Christmas, and 21st Century Gems. She also performs in the flute and voice ensemble Cassandra Duo along with mezzo soprano, Karen Leigh Post. She and Dr. Post have commissioned works by Allen Cohen, Jason Hoogerhyde to name a few. Ms. Auld joined forces with Guitarist, Ana Maria Rosado to form a spirited and dynamic Latin-American Musical ensemble, ¡DUO CARAMBA! presenting classical and contemporary Latin repertoire. Ms. Auld also performs a workshop series called
Music In the Gardens with visual artist, Christine Zaccardi, presenting works for solo unaccompanied flute in various community gardens.
Carla performed the U.S. premiere of Salvator Sciarrino’s “Il Cerchio Tagliato Dei Suoni:Per 4 Flauti Solisti e 100 Flauti Migranti” at the Guggenheim Museum. The NY Times mentions the performance as “fascinating and engaging”.
Ms. Auld holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University. She is one of several founding members of the NJ Flute Choirs Day. Carla Auld is a Bernhard Hammig flute artist. She maintains a private teaching studio in her home.
